Did you know that the 11 oldest banks in America call the East Coast home, with a handful located in New York? PNC Bank might not have such a long history as these other financial institutions, but it also calls the East Coast home.

PNC Bank, based in Pennsylvania, offers customers several financial products, from credit cards and auto loans to mortgages and business checking accounts. When it comes to straddling the line between a digital bank and a traditional bank, PNC successfully fuses the best of both worlds to the benefit of its customers.

In this guide, we’ll discuss PNC Bank’s hours of operation, including holidays. We’ll also help you find a way to bank even if the physical branches are closed for the night.

When it comes to banking, timing can be everything. When you know when PNC Bank is ready to help you achieve your financial goals, you can be ready for whatever comes next.

Are you ready to learn more about PNC Bank hours? Let’s get started!

History of PNC Bank

Created in 1983 with the merger of Pittsburgh National Corporation and Provident National Corporation, PNC Bank currently has over 2,600 physical branches and boasts an ATM network of over 60,000 available machines. It’s simply a matter of coincidence that the two banks shared the same acronyms.

Pittsburgh National Corporation was founded over 100 years before the merger which made PNC Bank what it is today. Back in 1852, it even preceded Provident National Corporation, which traces its roots to 1865 with the creation of an insurance company.

PNC Bank is currently led by Chairman William S. Demchak and serves over 12 million customers. The bank was voted Most Trusted Bank and Best Mortgage Lender Overall in 2023 by Bankrate

Additional awards include the Overall Leader in Cyber-Trust in Banking Scorecard and a Leader in Consumer Privacy category from Javelin Strategy & Research in 2022 and the Best Overall Bank For Students by Money.com from 2021 to 2023. You might not hear as much about PNC Bank as you do Wells Fargo, Chase, and Discover, but it’s certainly among the top banks making positive waves.

PNC Bank Hours

Like most traditional banks, PNC Bank is open five or six days a week, depending on the location. Some branches are open on Saturdays, while others are closed the entire weekend.

Hours during the week fall between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. If you visit a PNC Bank branch Monday through Friday, these typical business hours apply.

If the PNC Bank branch is open on Saturdays, hours are typically from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. While these hours are more limiting, they can be helpful for customers who can’t get to the bank during the week.

However, some customers have reported that hours can vary greatly between branches, seemingly with no explanation. That’s why it’s important to check the PNC Bank locator for hours at local branches near you.

You can also call your local branch to learn what their hours are, as sometimes online hours can be inaccurate. In addition, teller hours may differ from lobby hours as well.

If you need cash now, the ATMs within the PNC Bank network are open 24/7. This makes it easy to deposit and withdraw cash or checks if you’re running errands late at night or early in the morning.

PNC Bank’s Holiday Schedule

Traditionally, banks observe federal holidays, including:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth National Independence Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

PNC Bank also observes these holidays. Make arrangements around these holidays if you’re attempting critical transactions to avoid interruption or any further issues.

How to Bank Outside of PNC Bank’s Hours

If your local PNC Bank branch is closed, you have three options for accessing your PNC account:

  • Go to an ATM
  • Access your account online
  • Use your PNC Bank mobile app

ATMs allow you to transfer money, deposit and withdraw checks and cash, and check your balance. You’ll need to log in via the website or mobile app to send money with Zelle, lock your PNC Bank card, set up account alerts, and earn rewards.

The website and mobile app will also give you a chance to make transfers, check deposits, or contactless payments. If it’s after dark and too late to visit a local branch, banking online can be a great option.

Contact PNC Bank Customer Service

Should you need to contact PNC Bank’s customer service representatives, you can call 1-888-762-2265 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern Time. On weekends, this line is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

If you have a business banking account and need assistance, call 1-877-287-2654 during the same hours as above. You can also visit a local branch or tweet @PNCBank_Help.

PNC Bank Services

With a highly-rated mobile app, PNC Bank offers several banking features, including high-yield savings accounts, personal checking accounts, CDs, and more. Note that PNC Bank does charge a $36 overdraft fee, but you’re limited to a single overdraft charge if you have Low Cash Mode (more on that in a minute).

PNC Bank also offers financial solutions for retirement, refinancing, personal loans, private banking, business banking, and home equity lines of credit.

Checking

PNC Bank’s basic checking account, also known as the Spend account, is part of the bank’s Virtual Wallet accounts. This account doesn’t bear interest but offers most of the basic accouterments associated with a personal checking account.

It’s free to open a PNC Bank Spend account online, but you’ll need $25 to open the account in person. The $7 monthly fee is avoidable if you receive at least $500 in direct deposits or you’re at least 62 years old.

The PNC Bank Spend account also comes with a debit card, checks, and access to an ATM network with over 60,000 machines. You can also open a Reserve account to earn interest and avoid a monthly maintenance fee and minimum deposit fee.

With Low Cash Mode, you can avoid hefty overdraft fees by paying back your negative balance within 24 hours of incurring it. If you don’t make the deadline, you’ll still only incur a one-time $36 fee since PNC Bank limits its overdraft charges.

PNC Bank makes it easy to know how much you need to pay back and by what time. The clock counts down within the app so you know exactly how much time you have left.

Money Market

PNC Bank’s Premiere Money Market Account can be opened online or in person at a local PNC branch. If you open your new PNC money market account in person, you’ll need at least $100 to fund it.

This money market account comes with the going market rate. However, you can increase that rate if you receive more than $2,000 in qualifying direct deposits in the previous month or make at least five debit card transactions with your Performance Select Checking account.

To avoid the monthly service fee associated with this account, you’ll need to keep $5,000 in the account or link it to a PNC Bank personal checking account. This money market account doesn’t support checks but does give you an ATM card you can use.

High-Yield Savings Account

Like PNC Bank itself, the high-yield savings account (HYSA) that PNC offers is only available in certain states. If you happen to live in those states, you can take advantage of a respectable HYSA interest rate, but otherwise, it’s not much of a comparison.

The PNC Bank HYSA doesn’t require a minimum opening deposit. However, you will need to maintain a minimum balance of $1 to keep the account open.

This HYSA also comes with an ATM card you can use to deposit and withdraw funds. PNC Bank doesn’t charge a monthly fee for its HYSA.

Certificates of Deposit

Unfortunately, you will have to visit a PNC Bank branch to open a CD. That said, PNC does offer several types of CDs you can choose from based on your preference.

For example, Ready Access CDs allow you to withdraw your funds as soon as seven days after you opened the account. However, PNC Bank also offers more traditional CDs with longer terms.

Another CD example from PNC Bank is the 13-month variant, which requires $1,000 to open. When you compare CD rates across national banks, however, PNC Bank does come up a bit short.

Current PNC Bank Promotions

PNC Bank has one of the best banking apps and even offers some of the best bank account bonuses out there. Here are a few promotions you can take advantage of:

  • Business Checking or Business Checking Plus: This account comes with a $200 bonus when you open a new account by June 30, 2023, maintain an average ledger balance of $5,000 or more, and make 20 or more qualifying debit transactions within 90 days.
  • Treasury Enterprise Plan or Analysis Business Checking: While PNC Bank doesn’t offer free business checking, you can earn some extra cash with this account. Maintain an average balance of $30,000 or more to earn $500 for your business.
  • PNC Cash Rewards Visa Signature Business Credit Card: If you spend at least $3,000 using this credit card within the first 90 days, you can earn up to $400. You’ll also receive an introductory 0% APR for the first nine months.
  • PNC Business Options Visa Signature Credit Card: Get a $750 credit when you open this account and spend at least $25,000 in qualifying purchases during the first 90 days.
  • PNC Bank Personal Checking Account Bonus Offer: Earn $50 for opening a basic Virtual Wallet account and receiving $500 or more in qualifying direct deposits within 60 days. If you earn more than $2,000 in those direct deposits, you’ll earn a $400 bonus. Open your new PNC Bank Personal Checking Account by June 30, 2023, to qualify.

If you’re searching for the best bank accounts, look no further than PNC Bank. PNC overdraft fees can be harsh, but with Low Cash Mode, you can easily make ends meet if you’re quick enough.
